DC is a strange city.
After seven years of coming to the US, for the first time, I feel at home again. And deep down, I know because my people are local. Unlike New York City, unlike other places I had been to, people (or me) came and sought to leave. DC, people are here. Like my hometown Saigon, my friends were born there or have stayed there for a long time and will stay there forever. People are at ease, working their daily life, enjoying their community, and raising a family. For the first time, after seven years, or even longer, I live an everyday life again. Not chasing something unreal, not seeking something unknown. I am back to the point when I knew, and now I know, a life that is based on enjoying the simplest delight of working, cooking, coffee-ing, making a phone call, and music. I feel local. Not sure what I have found to get to this point here, a great school to study and work, great teachers, bosses and friends, a great city, or a great fiancé. But I am here, hopefully forever.
